Remy Daen is 6 months old!

Dear Remy,

Today you are 6 months old and that means you have been with us for half of a year. Time sure does go by quickly!

This past month you have accomplished so many things. The greatest of them all? Crawling! You definitely started off pretty rocky, but you never gave up. Every time you were sitting on the floor playing with toys, you'd quickly turn over on your stomach and start rocking away trying to get somewhere else. One night I woke up because I kept hearing a thumping sound and lo and behold, there you were in your pack and play, on all fours, rocking away making the pack and play thump against our bed.

I'll admit that you still aren't crawling at an incredible speed, but you have certainly learned that in order for you to get to Stella {your favorite to crawl to} you have to move those hands and those feet. I'm a little scared of what's to come now because your Daddy was a hooligan when he was a kid and I think you're heading down that alley now that you're mobile!

Another fun thing for you? Bath time! I think before you used to just lay there and be confused as to what that liquid was that was touching you and making you wet, but now you sit up like a big boy and you splash all the water! I think I could leave you in the tub for hours and you'd be so happy splish splashing away.

I told you before that you are a good napper and that still continued this month, but I'm sad to say that we had to experience some bad sleeping nights. Apparently I have passed on my nightmares and night terrors to you my sweet boy. It breaks my heart to hear you thrash around and scream in the middle of your sleeping, but Daddy always helps out the best during this time. He reminds me that you're safe and that it'll end soon and that all we can do is comfort and love you and pray for sweet dreams for you. And that my baby, is exactly what I do every night. Did you  know that every night when I was a little girl, I would always pray, "Please Lord, bring me sweet dreams and no bad dreams."  It's something I did and still do sometimes and now Remy, I pray that same prayer for you.  I am happy to report that for the past 2 weeks you've been bad dream free! See? "God is bigger than the boogey man!" {that's a fun little diddy by Veggie Tales!}

I'm still nursing you, but I have started to give you a little food. Daddy wants me to be giving you tacos and rice already, but I tell him that's just going to have to wait! Your favorite food so far? Avocados! Grandma thinks this is so funny that I started giving you avocados, but I don't. They're healthy for you and I'm glad you like them. I can't wait to whip out the Baby Bullet and make you your delicious food.

I love you Remy Daen and you certainly have made me a better person. I never thought the joy of being a Momma would be so immense, but alas, it's even more.  I know that you'll have a great 6th month and I can't wait to see what more you will discover.

Thank you for being my number one boy.

Your Momma,
Jennifer

21 Day Challenge: Day 14

 Day 14
     Copycat

For this challenge, we were supposed to copy a style that we liked. We could find our inspiration in a magazine, a blog, Pinterest, just about anywhere! So, I'm not going to lie, I totally went on Pinterest, typed in white button down, and looked at my results. I actually found a lot of great ideas that I loved and repinned to use for later. {that Pinterest just never lets a girl down!}

I loved this look because it was so clean and simple and incorporated everything that I already owned {minus the trench because it's hot outside.}  I had just hit up Goodwill last week for scarves because I was feeling "scarvy" and didn't want to pay a ton for my new want so I was excited to wear one. I tried my scarf in many ways, but I finally went with this look, which I've NEVER done before. First, I don't tuck things in and second, I don't wear belts in my belt loops. But, this scarf just happened to be super long and thin so I tried and surprisingly I really liked it. So there you go, try something new and you'll surprise yourself!

Besides having the white button down and the scarf, this look also incorporates two other accessories that I wear everyday. My pearls and my Louis Vuitton purse I carry every day because it's monstrous and allows me to carry diapers, toys, burp cloths, etc. without having to carry a separate diaper bag.
A word on my purse. They're a great example of the cost per wear ratio at work. It's cheaper if you buy one great item that will last you then if you continually buy cheap and only use it a handful of times. I know, it's hard to grasp that concept since you'd have to dish out a lot of money up front, but if you know you're buying quality then I think it's a good route to take. {right here my Mother is shaking her head and telling me that I'm crazy for advocating for purses that cost more than $15.00...Hi Mom!}

Anyway....here's my look.

 Shirt- Old Navy {3rdx wearing my remix item!}
Trouser jeans- Old Navy
Shoes- Old Navy
Scarf- Thrifted
Purse- Louis Vuitton
Pearls- Gifted
Ring- James Avery

 *where's my fancy 3 box photo? Remy decided to wake up from his nap grumpy and hungry so this Momma had no time to play around with her apps.

Have a great Sunday!

Insta Friday

Another Friday means another look through the week according to my Iphone.
If you have the instagram app {or not} link up to the party over at Life Arranged.

 On Sunday, we had our first riding in the front of the cart and not the car seat experience at the store!

I'm going to let y'all in on a secret.....The biggest store here in town is....Goodwill! So, the Hubs and I make it there at least twice a week. I know, that seems redundant, but you never know what you'll find. Ask my garage, it's full of "projects" from the Goodwill just waiting to be finished. So, I didn't buy these cheese markers, but I did send a picture asap to my sister in law because a couple years back, for New Year's Eve, we had a cheese and wine tasting party. In our brilliance and due to lack of time, we simply wrote the name of the cheeses on little pieces of paper and put them next to the cheeses. But look at these beauties and for less than 2 dollars! {haha}

We also picked these jars up because I liked the cork screw top and the Hubs for some reason wanted to buy a bag of marbles. So, yeah. We're real classy at the Goodwill.

This fabulous purse was found at another local thrift store for just 2 dollars. It's made of straw and it's kind of shaped like a briefcase and has a great buckle that I just loved.

 Of course I have to show you pictures with Remy! In the first picture I have a wonky eye, but the kid is laughing so big that I had to show y'all! The thing is, when I take pictures like this, I switch the camera to the front camera so you can see yourself. So Remy always gives good smiles because he's looking at himself!

 Doggie for sale: for FREE!
Okay, just kidding. But sometimes Stella really gets on my last nerve. Like when Remy's down for a nap and she decides that she thinks she hears someone at the door and she runs down the hallway barking like a mad woman thus waking up my child. Yeah, those times I definitely want to stick her outside with a for FREE! sign. {sigh} But I do love our little fox. She's just so darn cute.
P.S. Can you tell she looks a little sad? It's because of said incident described above and I then yelled at her and she looked at me like this afterwards. Oh boo on you dog, yes I still love you! Sheesh!

I made these cool book bursts on Thursday whilst the babe was napping. They're so simple, they don't even require glue or anything. Love them!

 I was pretty excited to throw this picture in. I finished my necklace last night at almost 2am. Whoops! I didn't mean to stay up that late, but I'm glad I got one done. Side note: Remy was laying in our bed when I finally got done and so I gently picked him up and put him in his crib, crawled into bed, and then jumped up out of bed because someone had peed all over my side. Boo on you baby! {he promptly then woke up because I'm sure once I moved him, he finally felt that his entire side was sopping wet}

Remy Daen is 5 months old!

Dear Remy Daen,

Today you are 5 months old. I cannot even believe that it's already been this long since your Daddy & I welcomed you into our family. Or rather, I cannot believe that it's already been this long since you put me in immense pain for 18 hours and almost 2 hours of the hardest pushing I've ever done. You choose which sentiment you like better.

But seriously, you are amazing. I cannot even imagine how I lived a single day without you and your wonderful little face. This past month you grew so much, I felt that if I blinked I'd miss it.

After you gave us your first 3 {and only 3} roll overs in Month 3, I began to wonder if you just decided to save the real rolling for another day or had you simply forgotten that you'd even done it in the first place? Then, out of nowhere, you became a rolling machine! I'd lay you down vertically in the middle of your activity mat and seconds later you'd be horizontal, on your stomach, and in the upper right hand corner of the mat. Crazy boy, you were rolling every which way and it was a joy to experience it with you. Who knew watching someone roll was so exciting?

Then came the wonder that is sitting up.
Oh, how you love to be sitting up now. No more laying around for you. In fact, you often begin to fuss when we lay you down on your activity mat. The fact that you can sit up straight and not wobble like a bobble head is pure joy for you. I think it's because you love to see the world around you. Everything looks so different from this new perspective. You sit and watch TV with Daddy, sit and watch Mommy get ready in the morning, and sit and watch dinner being made {in your silly looking Bumbo of course} Because of this, your new jumperoo is your best friend. Oh, how I love to hear you jump, jump, jump! And you do all of this whilst jumping on your toes. I try so hard to flatten your feet out for you, but you sure aren't having any of that. So for now, we'll just let you scrunch up those little toes of yours and jump away!

I also love that you've become quite the little ham. Since I've always had a camera in your face {what's a Momma supposed to do, not  photograph her child every second?} you're quite used to giving me different poses and looks. I get the best pictures to send to family & friends because you love to smile and laugh for me. You, my child, are a natural. I love making you laugh with my silly songs and even sillier dancing {just remember when I'm still doing these things and you're a teenager that you used to LOVE this about me.}

We also heard your fabulous little giggle for the first time! Up until now you've been quite the "silent" laugher. You smile so big but no sound comes out! Then, it happened. And, who makes you laugh now? Why Stella of course! Only that crazy dog of ours can elicit a laugh out of you, and that's okay as long as we get to hear it.

You've become quite the little napper now and there's nothing I like more than to sing softly to you and watch you fall asleep. The times I lay you down next to me, you make me cry when you reach out and gently touch my lips and cheeks as I sing you to sleep. My Son, you make me feel so loved.

And finally my little boy, I'm one lucky Momma because I get to be with you everyday and watch you grow. Because of this, we must always remember to love Daddy extra hard. He works so hard everyday so that I can stay home with you and even though he often gets home late, you always manage to put on a big smile for him and let him know that you love him. Always remember that your Daddy loves you  more than the moon and the stars and he is so excited watching you grow up. He's already started buying you "big boy" toys in anticipation for when you get older! I can't wait until you can go outside and play with Daddy.

Remy Daen, welcome to Month 5. I cannot wait to see what this month has in store for you.
I love you my silly boy.

Your Momma,
Jennifer
