21 Day Challenge: Day 21 i.e. The Grand Finale!

21 Day Challenge

Day 21
   Create your own killer outfit

Ahh...it's the end of the challenge!
I'm so glad that I happened to stumble upon that big orange button {see above} and decided to participate in this challenge. Kayla did a great job and the fact that she's been tracking points for the prizes, is pretty amazing since there has a ton of people participating.

I really tried to step outside of my box for this outfit and I was very pleased with the result. Starting from the beginning of this challenge, I had noticed a lot of people, Kayla included, who would pair their dresses with a top and then wear a belt so it would look like it was a skirt. I had never really thought about doing this so I tried it out. Tons of inspiration came from the many striped skirts I've seen and have been wanting and since I have a striped dress, I tried to make it look like a skirt with the addition of a black top and belt. I was a tad over ambitious with the boots, but I just changed those later. I made the flower pin and loved the pop of color.

Striped Dress- Old Navy
Top & Belt- Target
Boots- Payless
Flower Pin- Made by me

If you didn't do the challenge this time, I hope if there is a next time, that you'll participate as well! It was lots of fun and it really stretched my thinking on my "boring and old" wardrobe.

21 Day Challenge: Day 14

 Day 14
     Copycat

For this challenge, we were supposed to copy a style that we liked. We could find our inspiration in a magazine, a blog, Pinterest, just about anywhere! So, I'm not going to lie, I totally went on Pinterest, typed in white button down, and looked at my results. I actually found a lot of great ideas that I loved and repinned to use for later. {that Pinterest just never lets a girl down!}

I loved this look because it was so clean and simple and incorporated everything that I already owned {minus the trench because it's hot outside.}  I had just hit up Goodwill last week for scarves because I was feeling "scarvy" and didn't want to pay a ton for my new want so I was excited to wear one. I tried my scarf in many ways, but I finally went with this look, which I've NEVER done before. First, I don't tuck things in and second, I don't wear belts in my belt loops. But, this scarf just happened to be super long and thin so I tried and surprisingly I really liked it. So there you go, try something new and you'll surprise yourself!

Besides having the white button down and the scarf, this look also incorporates two other accessories that I wear everyday. My pearls and my Louis Vuitton purse I carry every day because it's monstrous and allows me to carry diapers, toys, burp cloths, etc. without having to carry a separate diaper bag.
A word on my purse. They're a great example of the cost per wear ratio at work. It's cheaper if you buy one great item that will last you then if you continually buy cheap and only use it a handful of times. I know, it's hard to grasp that concept since you'd have to dish out a lot of money up front, but if you know you're buying quality then I think it's a good route to take. {right here my Mother is shaking her head and telling me that I'm crazy for advocating for purses that cost more than $15.00...Hi Mom!}

Anyway....here's my look.

 *where's my fancy 3 box photo? Remy decided to wake up from his nap grumpy and hungry so this Momma had no time to play around with her apps.

Have a great Sunday!

21 Day Challenge: Day 1

If you don't know about the 21 Day Challenge, then head over to Kayla's blog and check it out!

Day 1:
    Pick something out that you'll remix 3 times during the course of the challenge

I don't know why but this was so hard for me. When I buy a top it's because it's going to go with that one pair of pants, or those new capris will go perfect with that one top. So to find something that I thought I could actually incorporate into different outfits was challenging.

I feel in a way, that picking a simple white button down might be going the easy route but, if it helps, I've worn this top maybe 4 times and I've had it for over a year. At least it'll get some wear time.

My Husband gets home way after I've already put on my PJs so bare with me and the Iphone pics

Shirt/tank- Old Navy
Denim capris (even though you can't tell that's what they are!)- Old Navy
Shoes- Gap
Belt-Target
Watch- Macy's, gift from friend
Necklace- NY&Co.
Ring- James Avery

And about tomorrow....I HATE tucking things in. I look awful, so we'll see how that goes!

What I Wore Wednesday

So from now on, I'm going to try my hardest to link up to Lindsey over at The Pleated Poppy for her What I Wore Wednesdays! She started doing this as a way to make sure she got out of her sweats and actually put on real clothes, which I love because there are definitely days where I need motivation to not stay in my pajamas all day too!

Of course, I have to say that since the Hubs is at work all day, I don't have anyone to take the photos of me. So, for now you'll just have to enjoy my IPhone photos and crappy mirror. {smile}

Monday was a running errands day. Nothing fancy and my hair definitely could have used a washing!
