Remy Daen is 6 months old!

Dear Remy,

Today you are 6 months old and that means you have been with us for half of a year. Time sure does go by quickly!

This past month you have accomplished so many things. The greatest of them all? Crawling! You definitely started off pretty rocky, but you never gave up. Every time you were sitting on the floor playing with toys, you'd quickly turn over on your stomach and start rocking away trying to get somewhere else. One night I woke up because I kept hearing a thumping sound and lo and behold, there you were in your pack and play, on all fours, rocking away making the pack and play thump against our bed.

I'll admit that you still aren't crawling at an incredible speed, but you have certainly learned that in order for you to get to Stella {your favorite to crawl to} you have to move those hands and those feet. I'm a little scared of what's to come now because your Daddy was a hooligan when he was a kid and I think you're heading down that alley now that you're mobile!

Another fun thing for you? Bath time! I think before you used to just lay there and be confused as to what that liquid was that was touching you and making you wet, but now you sit up like a big boy and you splash all the water! I think I could leave you in the tub for hours and you'd be so happy splish splashing away.

I told you before that you are a good napper and that still continued this month, but I'm sad to say that we had to experience some bad sleeping nights. Apparently I have passed on my nightmares and night terrors to you my sweet boy. It breaks my heart to hear you thrash around and scream in the middle of your sleeping, but Daddy always helps out the best during this time. He reminds me that you're safe and that it'll end soon and that all we can do is comfort and love you and pray for sweet dreams for you. And that my baby, is exactly what I do every night. Did you  know that every night when I was a little girl, I would always pray, "Please Lord, bring me sweet dreams and no bad dreams."  It's something I did and still do sometimes and now Remy, I pray that same prayer for you.  I am happy to report that for the past 2 weeks you've been bad dream free! See? "God is bigger than the boogey man!" {that's a fun little diddy by Veggie Tales!}

I'm still nursing you, but I have started to give you a little food. Daddy wants me to be giving you tacos and rice already, but I tell him that's just going to have to wait! Your favorite food so far? Avocados! Grandma thinks this is so funny that I started giving you avocados, but I don't. They're healthy for you and I'm glad you like them. I can't wait to whip out the Baby Bullet and make you your delicious food.

I love you Remy Daen and you certainly have made me a better person. I never thought the joy of being a Momma would be so immense, but alas, it's even more.  I know that you'll have a great 6th month and I can't wait to see what more you will discover.

Thank you for being my number one boy.

Your Momma,
Jennifer

Insta Friday

 Ah!
I can't believe it's Friday already.
I also can't believe that the last post I put up was last weeks Insta Friday.
Sorry!
I've been such a bum this past week, but my goal is to post this whole coming week!
Anyway, on to Insta Friday. Click the pretty button above to join the party.

Our week started off with finding this treasure at, where else?, Goodwill! My Brother has a thing for globes and this bad boy stands around 3 ft tall and the globe illuminates! We got it for $50 but once I went home I looked this model up and it's worth around $5-600! Now the only trick is sending it from Colorado to Texas.

This is either the world's largest bib or Remy is tiny.
{haha}

I turned around to find this child pushing himself up on the bottom of the coffee table.
You see that big empty space?
Yeah, there were magazines and books there until some baby hands threw them all off and tore half of them!

The Hubs cleaning off after working on his Jeep.

Remy went from wearing this adorable outfit one day....

...to wearing this the next day! The temperature dropped almost 50 degrees in a day! Welcome Fall!

Both Remy & Stella kept their eyes on the Hubs' ice cream the entire time he was eating it.

And because it got cold here, I was able to whip out this fabulous vintage Lacoste sweater my Brother gave Remy. I love the stripes!

So we had a prompt this week and it was to take a picture of something we loved.
So be forewarned to not be grossed out by the state of this item.

 Allow me to introduce you to my blanket.
{and no, surprisingly at 26 years old, I'm not ashamed to show you this}
I've had this since the day I was born and I've slept with it every day since.
To say I love this blanket would be an understatement.
I LOVE this blanket.
It used to bright yellow with satin trim but now it's mostly shreds and as the Hubs describes it, "some nasty brownish color"  My Mom bought me book when I was in high school about baby Kermit the Frog and his blanket and how he finally put it away for safe keeping because he didn't need it anymore. Well good for you Kermit! But, I just like it okay? I mean, I don't walk around with it {anymore} and I don't watch TV with it {anymore} and I certainly don't take it to the dinner table {anymore}
I'm a Wife and a Momma now....{it just stays under my pillow now}
And that my friends, is true love.

Next week we're supposed to try and take a picture of something we hate. Should be interesting to see what people hate!  Have a good weekend y'all!

Insta Friday

Insta Friday time! Click the fabulous button above to join the linky party!

My parents drove almost 13 hours to come visit us this weekend! And by "us" I mean their one and only grandchild, Remy. They brought with them this Mickey hat for Remy that our good friends were gracious enough to get monogrammed for him on a recent trip to Disneyland.
I have one when I first went when I was 1 so I'm excited that Remy has his own hat too!

 I love that this kid now enjoys his bath time. So much water splashing ensues, it gets pretty ridiculous.

 Remy enjoying some Grandma time.

 Did my parents really buy me the Baby Bullet? You betcha they did!

The wonderful fabric my Mom picked out for me to make a skirt.
Though I did buy a new duvet this past weekend and I'm finally decorating our bedroom, so I might make some pillows out of this since I like it so much.

 We drove the almost 2 hours to Ikea and the Grandparents bought Remy this red highchair. He loves it!
Also, a big shoutout to my Dad who put together all my Ikea purchases including: this highchair, my curtain rod and curtains, and my new table for my sewing machine. Thanks Pops!

Found a cute black and white tie at the thrift store to make into another tie necklace. This time, my Mom sewed up the back for me and showed me how to hide the stitches because apparently she's pretty fancy like that. My first tie necklace looks like a hack job on the back. Thanks Mom!
You can find the tutorial I used here

LOVE this cute little dish I bought at Goodwill for $1.00 to put my rings in.

The Hubs and Remy enjoying a work call.

Went ahead and chopped off more bangs! Now they're total full frontal (I pulled them to the side here to see if I could still do that) and now I don't know why I waited so long to do it.

Scene: Remy sitting on my lap reading a book
2 seconds later....
Remy hears Stella behind him and flings himself down to get a better look.
{please notice Stella licking her chops since she just finished giving my child a good lick in the face}

Toys, toys, toys...and more toys!
They've officially taken over my home and I only have ONE kid.
I can only imagine the nonsense when we have more kids.
{that's Remy's first finger painting next to the mirror!}

 College football has started and I received my favorite newborn shot of Remy on top of our Texas Tech helmet on a stretched canvas this weekend. I can't wait to decorate our office in Tech colors and put this canvas up.

He is    t  h  i   s    close to crawling that he gets a little mad when he can't go forward. He then gives up and just rolls to his destination.

And of course I've taken 8 million photos of my child throughout the week so allow me to bore you with some of those to end Insta Friday!  Have a great weekend!

{I can't believe this adorable creature is all mine!}

Nursing in public

Here is a list of places I told myself I would never nurse my baby:

  • anywhere that wasn't my house

Now here is a list of places that after becoming a Momma I have nursed my baby:

  • Target
  • Babies R Us
  • Chili's
  • Ikea
  • Kohl's
  • JC Penny's
  • Red Robin
  • Lowe's
  • Old Navy
  • and a number of other dressing rooms in various stores in the Denver Metro area

You can talk all the smack you want before becoming a parent, but when it comes down to it you know nothing until that little baby starts wailing because he's hungry now.

Lesson learned.
