21 Day Challenge: Day 3

Day 3:
    Mix your patterns

So, this one was easy for me because it's something that I've been trying to do more of. My inspiration to do this? Well, how about a 9 year old and a Disney show? No, really.

To make it easier to explain, we'll just say that Annalyssa is practically my little sister. Today will be her first day as a fourth grader and the only bad part about that is that she attends a private school and therefore cannot express her "fabulousness" in her outfit choices. A while back, she introduced me to the Disney show, "Shake It Up" which is about two 13 yr.old girls, Cece & Rocky, who dance on a TV show. Immediately I thought back to when I was in middle school and my Sears outfits and occasionally Ralph Lauren or Tommy Hilfiger polos were what I wore, not these amazing outfits where there was color blocking, mixing of prints, sequined scarves, hats, vests, distressed jeans, and neon colors!

From that point on, I'd put an outfit on and tell Annalyssa I was rocking it "Cece & Rocky style." {haha}

So, my outfit today is not super adventurous with sequins and such, but I still like how the collar of the polka dot shirt lays out on the cardigan.

B&W polka dot top- Forever 21
Blue striped cardigan- Forever 21
Denim Capris- Old Navy
Blue Toms- via Nordstrom
Pearl necklace- Matron of Honor gift from friend's wedding
Ring- James Avery
Faux pearl earrings- NY&Co.

I'm linking up!

Tomorrow is color blocking.
I wish I could pull off different colored jeans because I love that look but we'll see what I come up with!

Shake it Up is a tv staple in my house! My daughter is 9 now, but has always dressed herself. I'd drop her off at preschool with mismatched clothes and would just shrug my shoulders. I had given up on the morning battles to help her get dressed. Little did I know just how fashion-forward she was! I'm glad I let her win and express herself. :). Love your pattern-mixing! Nailed it!
